Peru and France are consolidating a robust strategic partnership, marked by high-level political dialogue and concrete cooperation projects that directly benefit citizens.

Recent meetings between Peruvian and French officials have reaffirmed the strength and multidimensional nature of bilateral relations, with a focus on infrastructure, health, environment, and the fight against organized crime.

France’s participation in major infrastructure projects, such as the construction of the new Central Highway and the Santa Rosa Expressway, is enhancing connectivity and quality of life for thousands of Peruvians. Additionally, French support for the modernization of hospitals in Lima, Cusco, Arequipa, and Puno will provide improved healthcare infrastructure for over 1.5 million people.

Energy cooperation is also advancing, with French company Engie implementing electrical projects in various regions, ensuring reliable energy access for hundreds of thousands of citizens. Environmental collaboration was strengthened through the signing of the High Seas Treaty, underscoring both countries’ leadership in marine biodiversity and the global fight against plastic pollution.

On the economic front, the conclusion of negotiations on the Double Taxation Agreement and ongoing talks with the French Development Agency for a portfolio of projects worth over 700 million euros signal a new era of investment and sustainable development.

Both nations are also preparing to sign a Declaration of Intent to intensify cooperation against organized crime and drug trafficking. France’s strong support for Peru’s OECD accession process further highlights the depth of this strategic alliance, which is set to expand with new initiatives in technology, climate, and social inclusion.
